We have a new Website and Magazine!

The ASID California Central/Nevada Chapter will launch their new and improved website www.ASIDCANV.org and a new membership publication Studio 49 Magazine, edited to address the informational needs of our Chapter members. Keep your eyes open for the release of the new website and the premiere edition of Studio 49 Magazine will mail mid-May.

We need your help in preparing our releases, so that they will be the resource to the professional interests of our members. Please submit for editorial consideration any news about your company, the products and/or services you provide, news of events, or meetings etc. to Marie Wikoff at Marie.Wikoff@hmcarchitects.com before Tuesday, April 1 for Studio 49 Magazine and as soon as possible for the release of www.ASIDCANV.org.

Also, please supply appropriate photography that can be used to illustrate the story.

2008 CHICO STATE INTERIOR DESIGN CALL FOR ENTRIES - LIGHTING DESIGN COMPETITION

Judged by industry professionals - $5 entry fee per submission - $200 CASH PRIZES - ENTRIES DUE FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 29TH 2008

Create an energy efficient and/or eco-friendly luminaire (floor lamp, wall sconce, pendant light, ceiling fixture, table lamp, or other design only limited by your imagination).
• Submit entry as an illustration or rendering, a model, or as an actual fixture. All entries must include a written description of design choices.  See entry form for more details. 
• 2 - $200 Cash prizes for Most Energy Efficient Design and Most Creative Design.

Hello Chapter Presidents and President Elects,

I hope this email finds you all well. The ASID professional chapter for CA Central / NV would like to ask for your input in coming up with a name for the chapter's design newsletter. They are looking for something design oriented (of course), catchy, trendy and all around creative. Keep in mind that the chapter works with designers and other industry professionals in the following areas; Central CA, Reno, Las Vegas and the Fresno area. Perhaps a name that somehow includes and or encompasses attributes from all these areas would be appropriate....but not required. Please keep in mind that this is NOT limited to ASID student members only but open to ALL design students in your program who would like to participate.
 
The following prizes will be awarded to the student who suggests a desired name.
 
*The Chapter will pay for ASID student membership dues ($45.00) for the next year, 2008.
*The Chapter will also give a $20.00 gift certificate to Starbucks Coffee.
*The Student will be congradulated and featured in the first issue of the newsletter.
 
Please, Please, Please, we would like you to pass this info along to as many design students possible in your school. We would appreciate the students' participation in this. The publisher wants to get going on the newsletter ASAP. Please follow up with your students to get these names turned into me before end of this week. Your help would greatly be appreciated.

ASID Valentine's Day Fundraiser - We need more volunteers!!

Hi everyone -
Thanks to those of you who signed up for a spot on the Valentine's Day Fundraiser Days, but we still have a few open spots to fill!  Mollye (our fundraising officer) has been working very hard to get everything set up and she could really use some more volunteers!!

On Wednesday, February 13th we have an opening from 2:00 - 3:00 PM.  We need 1 volunteer.

On Thursday, February 14th we have openings at:

• 9:30 - 10:00 AM (Set up) - we need 2 volunteers
• 10:00 - 11:00 AM - we need 2 volunteers
• 1:00 - 2:00 PM - we need 1 volunteer
• 2:00 - 3:00 PM - we need 2 volunteers
• 3:00 - 3:30 PM (Clean up) - we need 1 volunteer

I'm going to post the list on the glass case outside of Ayers 101.  E-mail me back if you want to fill the spots, or sign up after the sheet is posted.
